Fyola Facial Massager - Step by Step - Instructions

Sunday, March 1, 2009

1. When To Apply Gel And When To Apply lotion or serum?

Ultrasound Mode
When using the ultrasound mode, apply a suitable amount of water soluble gel or lotion (a circle with 2 cm diameter) on the facial head or your skin. Gel is better, since it doesn’t dry up quickly on your skin and makes the facial machine device move smoothly over your skin.

But the main function of gel is to increases the conduction of ultrasound waves into your skin.
The gel prevents air from coming between the facial machine and the skin, therefore maximizes the transmission of the sound waves.

You can get ultrasound gel from a specialty store. Aloe Vera gel seems to have good results.

Galvanic mode

When using the ultrasound mode, apply lotion or facial serum with Vitamin rich C or Anti-Oxidant. The galvanic mode pushes the skin care ingredients into you skin. So make sure, the skin care product you have selected does NOT contain chemicals. You don’t want these chemicals get into your skin, right?

Even branded skin products might have chemicals. So make sure you check the ingredients before buying these product at your local beauty store. Select organic skin product with 100% natural ingredients.

Do NOT apply the ultrasound gel when using the galvanic mode. Some ultrasound gels might even contain chemicals or preservatives.

Press on the power button to turn the Fyola on. The Fyola face massager send out a beep sound and some of the green or red light will turn on or flashing

3. Choose the Right mode

C: Cleansing (apply ultrasound gel)
M:Massaging (apply ultrasound gel)
N: Nutrition (apply quality lotion or serum, but Do NOT apply ultrasound gel)
L :Lifting (apply quality lotion or serum, but Do NOT apply ultrasound gel)

Optional Modes
W: Whitening (apply whitening lotion or serum, but Do NOT apply ultrasound ge)
W: Wrinkle Care (apply anti-aging lotion or serum, but Do NOT apply ultrasound ge)

You can use the two basic steps (good for acne skin) in a row:

1. Cleansing (4 minutes)

2. Massaging (4 minutes)

Total basic treatment is only 8 minutes.

A. Apply gel –> Choose Cleansing Mode –> Select Ultrasound mode –> Gently rub your whole face for 4 minutes –> Wash your face with warm wet towel

B. Apply gel –> Choose Massaging Mode –> Select Ultrasound mode –> Gently rub your whole face for 4 minutes –> Wash your face with warm wet towel

C. Done

4 Ultrasonic, Galvanic Ion or Both?

For massage and cleansing mode select ultrasonic wave mode only. This will remove waste inside your skin. Especially good for acne or oily skin.

When choosing lifting, nutrition, whitening or wrinkle care mode choose galvanic ion mode to enhance the absorption of cosmetic ingredients (Vitamin C) into your skin. For best results select both the ulrasound and ion mode. When both the ultrasonic and galvanic ion mode are used at the same time, the permission through the out skin layer will be 77 times better than using the ultrasonic mode or galvanic mode separately.

5. Move the facial head around your face
Move the treatment head of the facial massager in circle following the formation of the muscles. See illustrations for the directions. Do not stop moving the treatment head in use, about the rate of 5 centimeters within 1 second. The power will shut off automatically.

Upper Back Pain - Care and Treatment

Upper Back Pain - Care and Treatment

By Margarette Tustle

Upper back pain is less common but can be just as painful as lower back or neck pain. The upper back is designed to support the upper body and neck rather than to twist and turn. You can get pain in your upper back from injury or strain or even from lack of use. Once you have isolated the cause of your upper back pain it will be more easily treated. The root causes of pain in the upper back are muscular irritation and joint malfunction.

What Is Joint Malfunction?

Joint malfunction is most likely caused by strain or injury to the joints between the ribs and the upper back. A chiropractor, an osteopathic doctor or a physical therapist can manipulate the upper back in order to loosen and also strengthen those muscles to relieve the strain and prevent future injury. As part of treatment you may also take anti-inflammatory drugs to cut down on the upper back pain. A steroid shot will probably not be used unless it is injected right at the point where the pain initiates (the trigger point.)

What Is Muscular Irritation?

If you suffer from muscular irritation it is most likely not caused by strain or injury but rather from lack of activity or poor muscle strength in the shoulder girdle which connects the scapula to the thoracic cavity. Upper back pain in this case can be alleviated by chiropractic care, acupuncture, deep muscle massage, physical therapy, and strengthening and stretching exercises.

Are There Other Causes?

A herniated or ruptured disk is one of the less commonly found causes of upper back pain. Of people who come in for a herniated disk treatment only 1 percent have problems in the upper back. Another uncommon cause for pain in the upper back is degenerative disk disease. Those who work long hours at the computer or at a desk are more likely candidates for upper back pain than the general population. Good posture would help to alleviate the problem as well as strengthening exercises.

Suggested Treatment Options:

  • Chiropractic care: Once scorned by much of the medical community, it is now a well-respected profession and may be covered by your insurance.
  • Physical therapy: As you strengthen your back, shoulders, and abdomen, you will suffer from less upper back pain.
  • Acupuncture: This ancient Chinese healing art is also becoming more popular in treatment of chronic pain.
  • Deep muscle massage: A massage therapist trained in relieving upper back pain can be very useful.
  • The most serious cases of pain in the upper back may require medication for immediate relief

What Are The Causes of Body Acne?

What Are The Causes of Body Acne?

Body acne can range from the relatively harmless forms of acne mechanica to the rare, yet debilitating forms of acne fulminans.

Acne fulminans is a systemic acne disease with far reaching side effects. Triggers for acne fulminans are varied and could include a weak immune system or liver. This rare condition appears suddenly and predominantly affects young males with previous episodes of acne.

Acne lesions may appear on the face and other areas of the body. With acne fulminans, the patients body may be covered with inflamed nodules that can develop into painful ulcers.

People with acne fulimans can suffer from bone pain and various forms of arthritis. In some cases, acne treatments with isotretinoin may aggravate acne fulminans as explained by Dr. Guy Webster of Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia.

In a Skin and Allergy News article, Dr. Webster advised that the patients most likely to have this type of response to isotretinoin are those with moderate or severe acne already on the trunk or severe nodular acne anywhere on the body.

How Can I Reduce My Chances of Getting Body Acne?

You can easily avoid acne mechanica by showering immediately after physical activity. Also, by paying attention to everyday clothing and how it rubs against the skin can reduce acne mechanica.

For instance, some women experience shoulder acne simply because when putting on their bra, the bra straps rub too forcefully against their skin. This is easily corrected by not allowing the elastic to pull the skin.

If your back feels excessively waxy, it’s most likely that residue from your hair agents have slid onto your skin. To prevent this form of pomade acne, wash your back with soap to remove the waxy build-up.

Will Acne Face Products Help?

In general, acne facial treatments are not strong enough for body acne conditions. The skin of the facial area is much more delicate than the skin covering the rest of the body.

Plus, over the counter medicines applied to the face are more readily absorbed than topical medicines applied to the body. That’s because the face has the greatest concentration of pores of any portion of the body.

If used consistently however, over the counter washes containing salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide will help remove the waxy build-up on the body that can provoke acne.

When Should I See a Doctor About Body Acne?

See your doctor if your body acne is painful and getting increasingly worse. Forms of body acne like acne fulimans can develop into debilitating ulcers if left untreated. Moreover, diseases like Crohn’s disease and bowel infections can accompany acne fulimans.

In the end, body acne can be avoided with giving more attention to what you do with your body. But when the acne formations get too painful, see a doctor to ensure that you are not experiencing any underlying diseases or health threats.

Aromatherpy explained

Can I have a treatment or use aromatherapy products if I am pregnant or nursing?Yes, but only after consulting with a registered aromatherapist. Many essential oils are not suitable for pregnant women. Registered aromatherapists are trained and skilled at choosing the oils to fit your specific needs. Some essential oils are very good for helping a woman in labor.

What is the difference between Fragrance oil/perfume and Essential oils?Fragrance oils and perfumes contain synthetic ingredients that have been combined in a laboratory to replicate natural smells. Many of these synthetic ingredients are harmful to our health. It is interesting to note that even with all our technological advances scientist still cannot replicate essential oils completely. For example, Eucalyptus essential oil has around 250 components. Scientists have only been able to reproduce 30 of the 250 components. Many people who have allergies and sensitivities to perfume and fragrance oils do not experience these problems with Essential Oils. Essential Oils contain only pure plant essences.

Why are essential oils and aromatherapy products so expensive?Essential oils are concentrated plant material. It takes a large amount of plant matter to make up a small amount of essential oil. For example, it takes 2 tons of fresh rose petals to make 1kg of rose oil. However, because essential oils are so concentrated, one drop goes a long way.

How often should I get an aromatherapy treatment?Ideally, having an aromatherapy treatment once a week would be incredibly beneficial. However, even small changes such as using soap or bath salt blend with Therapeutic Grade Essential oils will make a difference in your life.

Causes of Neck and Back Pain

Finding the cause of neck pain begins with a complete history and physical examination. After the history and physical exam, your doctor will have a good idea of the cause of your pain.Research indicates that, on any given day, approximately 10% of adults must cope with neck pain. When young adults develop acute neck pain it is usually the result of turning awkwardly during the night, or playing a sport which requires quick neck movements, such as squash.

Lifting things improperly can also cause neck pain. Middle aged people are more likely to develop neck pain as a result of the normal degenerative changes of the discs and facet joints of the cervical spine.

There are five main causes of neck & back pain:

1. Strains and/or sprains account for the majority of neck & back problems
If you are suffering from a strain and/or sprain you will likely have reduced mobility in one or more directions. Positions that demand extreme ranges of motion - particularly rotation - will increase your neck pain. So will any kind of jarring move. Usually, there are no neurological signs which means no nerves are damaged.

The majority of back pain is caused by strains and/or sprains of the back's muscles, ligaments and tendons. Because so many of us lead inactive lives, our muscles become lax and lose their ability to support the spine properly. After time, the ligaments and tendons can also lose their ability to function properly. If you've ever doubted how much pain muscle strain can cause, try holding a very heavy dictionary in your outstretched arm for five minutes!

Poor posture over many years, especially for those of us who spend a lot of time sitting, puts enormous strain on the spine causing neck pain. In some cases, a person bends over to pick something up and the sudden exertion sends the muscles into spasm. But just as often, back pain creeps up slowly. You may suffer from backache after strenuous activity. Or in the morning. Or after sitting, or standing in one position for an hour or more. In these cases, poor posture is generally as much to blame as an inactive lifestyle.

2. Disc problems are most common in neck & back pain patients under the age of about 40
If you have a disc problem, flexion, and rotation toward the side on which the disc is bulging, or herniated, most often causes the most neck pain. On rare occasions, however, a disc will bulge, or herniate, centrally rather than to one side; in this case, rotation will not increase the neck pain.
In extreme cases, a centrally herniated disc may effect bowel or bladder function. This is a medical emergency, which may require immediate surgery.

The discs between the vertebrae can also be involved in back pain. Two things can happen. Most commonly, the disc's outer casing, called the annulus, weakens. When this happens, the disc bulges, irritating a nearby nerve. Less often, the centre portion of the disc actually bursts, or herniates, through a tear in the annulus and pinches a nearby nerve. This may cause severe leg pain if the herniation occurs in the lower portion of the spine. This is often called sciatica. In fact, patients with herniated discs are far more likely to complain of leg pain than back pain. Most people who suffer from a herniated disc are under the age of 40.

3. Patients suffering from spinal stenosis are most often over the age of 45
Spinal stenosis patients generally find that extension - prolonged extension in particular - aggravates their back problem. In general, spinal stenosis causes chronic rather than acute pain. Many people find it difficult to walk any distance unless they learn how to adjust their posture so that they do not walk with their low back extended. This can be done by assuming the pelvic tilt position as a normal walking posture.

As we age, the discs begin to dry out slightly and become thinner. This natural process is sometimes called disc degeneration. When this occurs, other problems sometimes arise: the space in the vertebrae through which the nerves exit can become narrow, causing the nerves to be irritated. This condition is called spinal stenosis. Most people with spinal stenosis are over the age of 40.

4. Facet joint problems are more difficult to categorize in terms of age but most often, these patients are over the age of 40
Prolonged extension tends to increase facet joint problems. Most people tend to suffer from chronic rather than acute pain. If they do experience an acute flare-up, however, rotation usually increases the pain dramatically. The onset can often help distinguish facet joint syndrome from stenosis although further diagnostic testing may be required.

As we age, our facet joints may also become slightly misaligned, especially if our posture has been poor for many years. When this happens, they can eventually become worn. This condition is known as facet joint syndrome.

5. Osteoarthritis patients are generally over the age of 45
If your problem fits into the category of osteoarthritis, itís likely that extreme ranges of motion will increase your pain. So will vibration and compression - for example, jumping up and down. The onset is often different, however. For example, strains and sprains usually hurt immediately after an injury occurs. The neck pain caused by osteoarthritis generally develops more slowly. Sometimes, it is not felt until the next day.

As the wearing process described above continues, our bodies try to compensate to make our spines more stable once again. For instance, where a disc is attached to the vertebra above and below it, osteophytes - little growths of bone - begin to form. Similarly, osteophytes often appear around the facets joints.

When this happens, the condition is called osteoarthritis, which is very different from other, more severe types of arthritis that sometimes leave people crippled. In fact, by the time we reach middle age, most of us have mild osteoarthritis that causes some backache from time to time. Eventually, however, osteophytes make the spine more stable, although less flexible, and the neck pain tends to subside.
